We: Need your Assistance for The Royal British Legion — 24 November JJ Market Christmas Charity Shopping Fair

Hi All!
We: Need your Assistance for The Royal British Legion -- 24 November JJ Market Christmas Charity Shopping Fair

JJ Market Christmas Charity Shopping Fair

This email is going to the members of both The Royal British Legion and Lanna Care Net.  Our joint 24 November fund-raising event is fast approaching and it’s time to ask our membership for help.  Please let us know if you can help with any of these tasks.
If we all do a little bit, then this event will be successful and fun!

Ways to Help Before 24 November:
1.  Go thru your wardrobes & cupboards to find clothing, books, DVDs and household items (in good condition, please) to donate for the RBL/LCN second hand goods sale.  Items can be dropped off  after 5 pm at Pern’s Restaurant on Huey Kaew Rd. (park at the Shell station) or with Lucy Coombs (089 651 0040 or lucycoombs@yahoo.com).  Or you can bring them directly to the event if you’re planning to come for early morning set-up.  We need items before 9 am on 24 November (or earlier)
2.  Cash in your Rim Ping grocery store points for 100 baht gift vouchers, which we can use as prizes in the tombola (instant lucky draw) game.  Check to see if you can get cash vouchers from other stores, too, where you may have “points”.
3.  Save your clean shopping bags for customer use at the 2nd hand goods table.
4.  Donate or collect prizes for the tombola, live and silent auctions. New and unused items, please!  Vouchers would be an especially good prize, please.  Do not leave prizes at Pern’s.  Please pass them along to either Gill or Nancy.
The tombola and auctions are the major money-maker for the RBL and LCN at this event and it’s critical we have desirable items.
5. Offer to organize the items and documentation needed for the silent auction and the tombola.
6.  Recruit vendors. We still have stalls available.  Pass along the attached announcements.  Print them out and encourage your favorite business to participate.  Put information on your website or Facebook page.   If you take a booking, please ask for the following details:
  • Name of the organization or business, contact person, phone number, email address
  • Where they would like to be placed — in the food court, with businesses/charities or in the second hand goods section
  • How many stalls they want to reserve
  • What products they plan to sell — please be specific, especially with food vendors.  We don’t want to duplicate offerings.
  • If they need electricity.  It’s free, but we need to know in advance.  Electricity isn’t available in the 2nd hand good section.

Payment can be made in advance if it’s convenient  to see Gill or Nancy.  Otherwise it will be due upon check-in on the day of the event.

Ways you can Help on the Day of the Event
1.  Come for set-up, at 6 am!  Unlike previous events at City Life, we can’t set up the day before.
2.  Help to organize (categorize) the clothing, books and DVDs for the 2nd hand sale.
3.  Spend a couple hours working the second hand table, selling water, beer, soft drinks, or encouraging people to buy tombola instant winner tickets.  The auction items will be “on display”.  So, even if you can’t do much physical activity you could sit and watch the auction items, answering questions and being sure they don’t disappear.
4.  Stay to help with tear-down and clean-up after the event.  We need to be off site by 7 pm.
