Chiang Mai Ex-Services Club
A new
social club for all ex-servicemen and women, be they regular, reservist (TA
in the UK) or auxiliary, national service or conscript and regardless of
their nationality, in order that they can socialise with people of a similar
background living in the Chiang Mai area, as well as visitors to Chiang Mai,
on a regular basis. Former members of the Merchant Navy who have served in
hostile waters are also welcome.
Chiang Mai Ex-Services Club, which will meet at The Olde Bell Pub on the
second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, upstairs in the TRBL room at
7.30pm from 10 March 2010 onwards.
Over the last twelve months or so, the RBL has got to know a number of
people from several different countries who have served in their own
country's Armed Forces but who are not particularly interested in joining
TRBL because they feel that it doesn't apply to them, with the aims of TRBL
primarily focusing on the welfare of current and ex-UK Armed Forces
personnel and their dependants, as well as the Remembrance Service and the
annual Poppy Appeal, which is the one time perhaps that we do actually all
come together, regardless of our nationality.
Membership of the new club is free, though you will need to complete an
application form and provide two passport-sized photographs in order to get
your membership card. Membership of the club will get you a discount on food
and drink at The Olde Bell on production of your membership ID card. More
importantly than that however, we feel that it offers us ex-servicemen the
chance to mix socially with men and women of other nationalities who have
also served their countries and with whom we can share our experiences and
build long-term friendships with.
